The trattoria Borgo Antico looks out upon the charming Piazza Santo Spirito in the heart of the historic center of Florence. A stone’s throw from the 15th C. basilica that gives the Piazza its name, Borgo Antico, with its warm and welcoming atmosphere, will draw you into the magical Renaissance aura of Oltrarno, or as it is also known to Florentines, diladdarno – Florence’s Left Bank.
The historic center of Florence is comprised of various rioni, or neighborhoods, like Santo Spirito and San Frediano, and some of the most famous monuments, palaces and gardens of Florence are found here. Among them are Palazzo Pitti and the Boboli Gardens, just a short walk from the restaurant.
But what’s so special about this area is certainly the atmosphere one perceives walking through the old streets still lined with the workshops of craftsmen, including goldsmiths, furniture restorers and many others, that make our neighborhood so distinctive.
Immersed in these special surroundings, at Borgo Antico you can taste the specialties that are a proud reinterpretation of traditional Florentine cuisine. You can choose from pasta, meat, fish and pizza (prepared in a wood-burning oven) and finish your meal with one of our delicious desserts. Vegetarian meals are also available.
Our naturally leavened bread is made from stone-ground wheat.
When it comes to drinks, we’re certain that our wine list will meet with your approval. If you’d like an aperitif, our barman will be happy to prepare a cocktail for you. In a word, we’re here to serve you from the moment you set foot in Borgo Antico, with professionalism enhanced by a cheerful staff and the magic of Oltrarno.
